A viral video of Primate Elijah Ayodele has stirred strong reactions online after he predicted that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, could face a tough challenge from Mascot Uzor Kalu in the 2027 governorship election.
The cleric made the prediction in a 23-second video shared on X by Chuks @ChuksEricE, which has since attracted over 70,000 views.
“In Abia State, if Mascot Uzor Kalu contests for the 2027 governorship election, it’s going to be tough for Governor Alex Otti,” Ayodele said in the video.
He added, “If he knows his way he can defeat Otti, that name is strong, Otti may not see it that way.”
The comments have triggered widespread backlash from Nigerians on social media, many of whom dismissed the prophecy as politically motivated.

One user, @OmegaXDreams, wrote, “Why don’t he focus on the word of God? This is not a man of God! Why does he focus into politics?”
Another, @Therealsimcard1, accused the cleric of partisanship, saying, “This one na APC apologist.”
@loadedbrodah called Ayodele “a prophet of doom,” while @MURPHY07438485 described fake prophets in Nigeria as “deadly and shameless.”
Others, however, defended Governor Otti’s performance, arguing that his governance has brought visible progress to Abia State.
User @ispeakdefi wrote, “The people of Abia State are not stupid. Alex came into power as governor, and since then, they’ve been seeing results after results.”
He continued, “Before Alex, Abia State was in shambles! Terrible governors had done a lot of damage to the state. Now, one man enters power and is finally doing good for the people i.e 24/7 electricity, good roads, new schools, and you think they’ll just stand by and watch you remove him?”
Similarly, @Truthmusk01 noted that Otti’s record gives him a strong advantage, stating, “Governor Alex Otti’s performance, reform-driven governance, and growing public trust have positioned him far ahead of any potential challenger.”
He added, “At this point, Otti has no real rival in Abia.”
Some respondents went further to mock Ayodele’s prediction, with @Johneke997 saying, “Even in Igbere, Mascot Uzor Kalu won’t get up to 500 votes, not to talk of Bende LGA. Who is advising these men of God?”
The video continues to gain traction online, deepening the controversy around the cleric’s political prophecies, which many Nigerians view as publicity-seeking rather than spiritual revelation.
