2027: It’s Either Peter Obi or Nothing — Netizens React to Rumours of Atiku-Obi Ticket in ADC Coalition

Netizens have urged well-meaning Nigerians to give their full support to the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as the flagbearer of the proposed coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was made known in a statement shared by an X user, with the username @ADCNigeria_. He maintained that they are not in support of any Obi-Atiku ticket, not because they hate Atiku but because they believe in Obi’s vision of a new Nigeria.

They maintained that asking Peter Obi to take part in a primary system that is often influenced by money politics is not only unfair but insulting to the principles he stands for.

They insisted that it’s either Obi becomes the flagbearer or be allowed to go back to his party, the Labour Party, with his values intact.

The statement reads, “A Sincere Call for Unity and a New Nigeria: Support @PeterObi as the Authentic Flagbearer.

“To Alhaji Atiku Abubakar @atiku, your esteemed supporters, and the distinguished members of the @ADCNig @ADCcoalition @ADCNigeria_@ADCNews_Nigeria stand at a critical crossroads. This is a moment where conscience must rise above convenience, and where the future of our nation must be placed above personal ambition.

“The hardship in our streets, the despair among our youth, and the broken trust in leadership all cry out for real transformation. That kind of transformation can only come through a sincere, competent, and trusted leader. That leader is @PeterObi.

“Let us speak with honesty. Asking Peter Obi to take part in a primary system that is often influenced by money politics is not only unfair, it is insulting to the principles he stands for. Everyone knows that the current process of primaries in most parties is controlled by who can pay the most to delegates. Peter Obi is not a man of such politics. He does not believe in buying votes. He believes in earning trust.

“It is, therefore, disappointing to see attempts to persuade him to return as a vice-presidential candidate. We must make it clear that many of us who believe in Peter Obi’s vision for New-Nigeria will not support any Atiku-Obi ticket. We will not campaign for it. We will not vote for it. Not because we bear hatred, but because the spirit of a new Nigeria cannot be carried by the old system.

“Peter Obi has awakened something powerful in the hearts of Nigerians, especially the youth and those in the diaspora. He has become a symbol of integrity, hope, and genuine service. This momentum must not be wasted. He must be allowed to either be the presidential flag bearer of the @ADCNig,@ADCNigeria_ or remain in the @NgLabour Party with his dignity and values intact. Any other move will derail the unity and energy of this movement, @POMediaCenter.

“To every member of the ADC coalition and every well-meaning Nigerian, this is not about political calculations. This is about rescuing our nation. This is about standing behind the one man who inspires confidence across ethnic and religious lines. The one man whose record speaks louder than slogans.

“Let us not make the mistake of trying to force him into a broken system. Instead, let us rally around Peter Obi. Not with promises, but with real action. Let us offer him the ticket, the platform, and the full support he deserves to lead Nigeria forward. Peter Obi or nothing,” the statement ended.
