A Federal High Court in Abuja has denied bail to Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, who is facing charges of money laundering involving over N100 billion.
According to FIJ, Justice Maryanne Anenih, presiding over the case, observed that Bello was taken into custody on November 26 and arraigned the following day, November 27.
However, his bail application was filed on November 22, several days prior to his detention.
In her ruling, Justice Anenih declared the bail application invalid, stating that it was filed at a time when Bello was neither in custody nor before the court, rendering it procedurally incompetent.
