The federal government is currently engaged in a crucial meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Reports indicate that the meeting is underway at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

Key figures present at this significant gathering include the Minister of Labour, Simon Bako Lalong, Minister of State, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha, and NSA Nuhu Ribadu.

Notably, representatives from the labour sector, led by TUC President Festus Osifo, Nigeria Labour Congress Secretary General Emmanuel Ugboaja, and other prominent labour leaders, are also in attendance.

The meeting unfolds against the backdrop of a nationwide strike declared by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), who are jointly advocating for the apprehension of suspected thugs and their backers.

The urgency of these discussions has intensified following an unfortunate incident on November 1, wherein the NLC president was attacked in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, during a protest staged by state workers demanding unpaid salaries.
