Four people lost their lives in a stampede during an almsgiving zakat exercise for the poor in Bauchi State.
The stampede took place at the Shafa Holdings Company plc headquarters along Jos Road, on Sunday at about 10 am.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the incident to Channels TV and assured that the situation is now under control.

He further added that prompt action was taken by the police upon receiving the news, and the commissioner of police is urging the public to remain calm.
A victim of the stampede, 17-year-old Naima Abdullahi, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
However,on visiting the scene the crowd had dispersed, and police vehicles were stationed in the area. However, a few women are still waiting outside in anticipation of further disbursement.
