The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed senior police officials to ensure the safety of participants in the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest, scheduled from August 1 to 10, 2024.
This directive was communicated in a response letter to a request made by human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who had written to the IGP on July 26, 2024, seeking police protection for the demonstrators.
The IGP’s response, dated July 29, 2024, and signed by his Principal Staff Officer, CP Johnson Adenola, included a request for a meeting with Adegboruwa in Abuja on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, to discuss the matter further.
