Kaduna Govt Awards Scholarships To 50 Students To Study ICT At Indian Varsity

The Kaduna State government has awarded full scholarships to 50 students for ICT courses at Mewar International University.

This marks a touchstone as Mewar, the first international university from India, has established a campus in West Africa, offering premier courses in computer sciences and ICT.

On Tuesday, Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe warmly welcomed 33 successful female applicants and their parents at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

She expressed her encouragement to the students and extended her best wishes as they embarked on their journey to Nasarawa State to commence their studies.

The selection process was rigorous, with candidates boasting the highest JAMB scores from each of the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State being chosen. A special emphasis was placed on female candidates in this selection.

Originally, the state government had created a scholarship specifically for 50 girls to study ICT. However, only 35 girls applied.

In line with its vision of transforming Kaduna State into a knowledge-based economy and a technological hub for Northern Nigeria, the Kaduna State Government has now expanded the ICT scholarship at Mewar International University, Nassarawa State, to include both male and female students.
