The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, was granted bail on Friday night after being detained and questioned by police at Zone One Police Headquarters, Kano.
Rimingado, who was arrested on Friday evening, was released on conditional bail around 11 p.m. but was directed to report at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday for further questioning.
His arrest is believed to be connected to the ongoing trial of the former Managing Director of Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO), Bala Muhammed Inuwa, who is accused of diverting over N4 billion in public funds.
The trial, which commenced in November 2023 at the Kano High Court, led to the seizure of properties linked to the alleged fraud, including funds in bank accounts.
In December 2023, Inuwa filed a separate suit at a different Kano High Court seeking the withdrawal of police officers guarding Limestone Processing Links Ltd., where the confiscated assets were held.
Justice Aisha Ya’u granted the order, sparking concerns from the PCACC, which argued it was not notified of the suit despite its role as the primary authority over the seized properties.
The commission subsequently filed a stay of execution on the order, emphasizing its authority under the Kano Anti-Corruption Law to secure such assets.

Two weeks ago, Rimingado disclosed that his commission had intercepted an attempt to relocate the seized properties, valued at over N2 billion, which were moved to a state government warehouse in Nasarawa GRA for safekeeping.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest have drawn speculation, with many linking it to the commission’s handling of the high-profile corruption case and its efforts to safeguard public assets.
As of the time of this report, Rimingado was unavailable for comment on the arrest.
