Supreme Court is poised to deliver judgments in the hotly contested Kano state governorship election appeals. The stakes are high as the secretary of the legal team for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barrister Bashir Tudun Wuzirci, affirmed the official confirmation of this pivotal judgment day.
Wuzirci disclosed, “Yes, it is officially confirmed. They have told us to appear on Friday for the judgment. They told us that each party should not have more than two counsels in attendance. This, they said is because they will be delivering seven judgments on that same Friday.”
The crux of the matter lies in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s appeal against the Court of Appeal’s judgment, which upheld his removal from office. The Election Petition Tribunal had earlier ousted the governor, directing the issuance of a certificate of return to Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the APC candidate.
Governor Yusuf’s pursuit of justice led him to the Appeal Court, but the outcome further deepened the intrigue. The appellate court, while affirming his dismissal, questioned his party affiliation during the election, asserting that he was not properly sponsored.
