The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested several young Muslim men for allegedly failing to observe the Ramadan fast on the first day of the holy month.
The Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, confirmed the arrests while addressing journalists in Kano.
He stated that the individuals were apprehended during routine patrols aimed at ensuring compliance with Islamic laws.

In addition to enforcing fasting regulations, Hisba officials also cracked down on what they described as “indecent haircuts,” arresting about 60 people. The board stated that such hairstyles violate Islamic teachings and cultural norms in the state.
Furthermore, the agency apprehended several commercial tricycle (keke napep) operators for allegedly carrying mixed-gender passengers.
Hisba reiterated its stance against the practice, warning that it would not tolerate the mingling of unrelated men and women in public transport.
