The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended a truck containing more than 24,000 bottles of various alcoholic beverages seized from smugglers.

Alhaji Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Board, revealed this information on Wednesday during an inspection of the confiscated truck at the board’s headquarters.

The interception occurred on Tuesday night along Zaria Road.

“The truck containing over 24,000 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages was confiscated from smugglers along Zaria Road at midnight,” Sufi said.

He observed that the Hisbah personnel in the state have demonstrated proactivity in implementing a strict policy of zero tolerance towards the illicit transportation of beer and other intoxicating substances across its neighboring state borders.

The Director-General (DG) praised the collaboration between Hisbah personnel and various stakeholders in the campaign against beer smuggling into the state, aligning with the state’s adherence to Sharia law.
