Federal High Court has issued an order to freeze the bank accounts of the Kano State Government.

The action comes as a result of the state’s non-compliance with a previous court directive to compensate victims of the Filling Idi Demolition exercise with a sum of N30 billion.

The court’s freeze order encompasses a total of 24 bank accounts associated with Kano State, including those held at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Justice E.A. Ekwo, who presided over the case, has further mandated that representatives from the Kano State Government present themselves in court on January 18.

The compensation, as ordered by the court, is designated for the Incorporated Trustees of Masallacin Eid Shop Owners, who are the recognized victims in this case.
