Politicians Should Not Micro-manage Military Affairs – Buratai

Former COAS, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), emphasized that political interference jeopardizes national security.

Speaking at a lecture in Ibadan, he highlighted how it obstructed military operations and compromised execution of plans. Gen. Tukur stressed that this interference stems from a lack of understanding of military complexities.

He warned against imposing political agendas on military leaders, as it undermines their autonomy and erodes trust within ranks. He urged politicians to respect military expertise and rely on their advice for defense and security matters.

He also called on public servants to uphold established rules in the face of political pressure.
