Tomi Arayomi, Prophet to Nations and Founder of RIG Nation has stated that Nigerians’ defensive reactions to UK politician Kemi Badenoch’s critique are key reasons for the nation’s delayed progress, likening the denial to a battered wife excusing her abuser.
Badenoch, who has Nigerian roots and serves as the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, has been vocal about issues plaguing Nigeria, sparking mixed reactions among Nigerians both at home and abroad.
In his tweet, Arayomi, a public figure, likened Nigeria’s defensive response to Badenoch’s critique to that of a battered wife denying abuse.
He wrote, “Nigerians getting defensive over @KemiBadenoch calling out the obvious is why Nigeria’s change has been delayed. The Nigerian govt may be the abuser but it’s high time we admit that we, the people, have become the enablers! Like a battered wife, Kemi has called out our black eye, and we have said defensively, “ he didn’t push me; I fell down the stairs!”

Nigerians have reacted to his tweet.
One Twitter user responded, “We may not all agree with Kemi Badenoch at all times, but what has she said about Nigeria that is not true or has not been said? Those are the issues that should be highlighted and not trying to deflect the main issues about the need to fix Nigeria.”

@ijeoma stated, ” Instead of being defensive, our politicians and the entire armed forces should sit up and do the needful. The situation of Nigeria is deplorable, and that’s the truth. Sadly, the younger politicians are grooming themselves to be worse than the older politicians.”
