KFC Nigeria Apologizes After Outlet Shutdown Over Alleged Discrimination Against Adebola Daniel

KFC Nigeria has issued an apology following the closure of one of its outlets by the airport authority due to allegations of discrimination against Adebola Daniel.

In a statement on X on Thursday, KFC Nigeria expressed regret for the distress experienced by Mr. Daniel and others affected, and announced measures to address the situation, including employee training on inclusion and empathetic customer service.

It said, “We deeply regret the frustration and distress experienced by our guest and extend sincere apologies to those affected.”

Parallel Facts reported that Adebola Daniel, the son of former Nigerian state governor Gbenga Daniel, revealed in a social media post that he was asked to leave a KFC outlet at Lagos airport because of his wheelchair.

The incident sparked widespread outrage and led to an investigation by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), leading to FAAN’s announcement of the closure of the popular fast-food chain, located at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos State.

The closure of the restaurant by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) also included an order for KFC to apologize to Mr. Adebola. FAAN further mandated the fast food chain to prominently display a non-discrimination policy at the restaurant before reopening.
