Kidnappers who recently obtained N8.5 million as ransom for the release of 11 abducted residents from Kawu community in Abuja have now demanded an additional two brand new motorcycles.
The victims were forcefully taken on December 26, 2023, with four managing to escape, leaving 19 individuals still in captivity.
The harrowing situation took a grave turn when the bandits, dissatisfied with the initial ransom, threatened to harm the remaining captives if their demands weren’t met.
A family member, Bala Dantani, revealed that N5 million was initially raised and handed over to the kidnappers two weeks ago in a desperate attempt to secure the victims’ release.
Undeterred, the abductors persisted in their demands, prompting the collection of an additional N3.8 million, along with essential supplies such as food, drugs, and wines.
Despite the assurances of the leader that the hostages would be released, the family members faced further distress when they were informed that the bandits now required two motorcycles before freeing the remaining 11 victims.

According to DailyTrust, Dantani stated, “And while waiting for their calls to tell us locations where to pick the victims on that Tuesday, the man who took the ransom to them came back that the bandits were again demanding for two motorcycles before they will release the remaining 11 victims.”
