Kidnappers Abduct Catholic Priest, Request N100 million Ransom

A Catholic priest in Enugu State who has been abducted since Saturday along the Eke-Egede-Affa Road. Reverend Father Marcellinus Obioma Okide was said to have been on his way to his parish when the Kidnappers struck.

The priest serves at St. Mary Amofia-Agu Affa Parish in Udi Local Government Area, where the abduction took place.

The kidnappers, who were suspected Fulani herdsmen, had reportedly abducted six other people, along with Father Obioma. And have now established contact with the relatives of the victims, demanding a sum of N100 million for the release of the priest and the six other captives.

The abduction was said to have occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and the kidnappers, according to reports, left the victims’ children in their vehicle and only went away with the victims.

It has been a cry for help after the Diocesan Chancellor, Reverend Father Chidi Agubuchie, broke the news to the public, confirming the situation, and has appealed to the public for prayers as the Diocese implores the kidnappers to reconsider their actions and release the captives.
