Abdullahi Jabi, secretary general of the International Institute of Professional Security, has called for harsh measures against kidnappers, informants and terrorists in Nigeria, saying they should be given instant summary execution to deter others from joining them.
According to him, “Those criminals should be given instant summary execution that will serve as a deterrent to those who want to get involved.”
Abdullahi who also said the rising insecurity in the country was fueled by the economic hardship and unemployment among the youths, urged the Federal Government to do everything possible to reduce the unemployment rate and provide social intervention schemes for citizens to engage in productive activities.
“So the Federal Government must do everything humanly possible to see how they can reduce the huge unemployment in the country.
“There must be a lot of social intervention schemes that will allow citizens to access funds to do business and engage in other trading activities because an idle mind is a devil’s workshop,” he said.
He said the National Assembly and state assemblies should pass a resolution to destroy the houses of anyone suspected or found to be harbouring criminals. He said this would put pressure on parents to monitor their wards and prevent them from participating in criminality.
He said if these actions were not taken, the problem of insecurity would continue to persist, as the level of unemployment was unprecedented.
