Kogi House of Assembly Calls for Immediate Sack of EFCC Chair, Olukoyede; Insists State Money is Not Missing

The Kogi State House of Assembly has called for the immediate removal of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, over handling of the case against the immediate past Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

During a plenary session in Lokoja, the state capital, on Monday, the Kogi House of Assembly condemned what they described as an unprovoked attack by EFCC operatives on the Kogi State Government Lodge.

They stated that the action was an attack not only on the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, but also on the entire people of Kogi.

The lawmakers accused the EFCC of assassination attempt on the former Governor and the incumbent, stressing that the persecution of the former governor had gone on for too long and must stop.

The motion was moved by Hon. Akus Lawal, representing Ankpa 1 State Constituency. Hon Jacob Olawunmi, Mopamuro State Constituency, seconded the motion. Akus said the EFCC was out to himiliate and possibly kill the present and former governors. His colleagues all supported this

Olawumi, who seconded the motion, stressed that the Audited Financial Reports of the State had always been published by the State Government and that “the State House of Assembly can categorically say that no money is missing to warrant EFCC’s unwarranted witch-hunting of the former Governor.”
