Kogi Council Chairman Dies Few Hours To Governorship Election

Hon. Muhammed Danasabe Muhammed, Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area Council in Kogi State, passed away at 4.30 a.m. today. The 48-year-old collapsed at his residence after actively participating in political meetings for Saturday’s governorship election.

Rushed to a local hospital, doctors pronounced him clinically dead. The Kogi State House of Assembly had suspended Muhammed in March 2023, pending an investigation. His burial is scheduled at the Unguwan Kura Muslim cemetery after Juma’at prayer today.

Condolences poured in as sympathizers gathered at his family house in Lokoja’s cantonment areas. He is survived by his mother, wife, and children. The State Assembly’s resolution appointed the Deputy Chairman to administer the council during the investigation.
