Kogi State Police Command has warned all VIPs, political and public officers to refrain from moving with their security personnel to polling units ahead of today’s gubernatorial election in the State.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the election in Kogi state, Habu Sani gave the warning in a statement signed by the police spokesperson in the State, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, on Friday.
The statement said that any security personnel attached to any VIP, political or public officer or any other personality across the state is not allowed to escort their principals during the period of restrictions of vehicular movement.
The DIG said that any officer who violates this order by accompanying any VIP, political or public officer or any other personality to the polling unit will be arrested and dealt with accordingly.

He urged the VIPs, political and public officers who will vote, to note this order to avoid any embarrassment that might befall them.
He added that the police and other security agencies will not tolerate any security breach during the period of the election.
He assured the people of the state of adequate security and urged them to come out en masse to exercise their franchise peacefully in Kogi state.
