Kogi Governor Ododo to Spend N3 Billion On ‘Remodelling’ Govt House Despite N2.2billion Spent on Same Project in 2024

A review of Kogi State’s 2025 approved budget has revealed that the Governor Usman Ododo-led state government plans to spend N3 billion to remodel the Government House structure, reports have revealed.

This development comes despite the fact that N2.2billion was spent on the same purpose in 2024, according to a review of documents published by the Kogi State government on its website.

Additionally, N200 million is allocated for the renovation and furnishing of the Deputy Governor’s Lodge, while another N200 million is budgeted for the rehabilitation and furnishing of the Deputy Governor’s Office.

In 2024, N100million was spent on renovating and furnishing the Deputy Governor’s Lodge, and another N100 million was used for rehabilitating and furnishing the Deputy Governor’s Office. The state government also plans to spend N15 million to build a generator house for the Deputy Governor’s Office.

While N3 billion is earmarked for remodelling the Government House, the drilling of two boreholes in each local government area in the state is budgeted at N200 million.

Similarly, while N3billion is set aside for the remodeling of the Government House, only N350 million is allocated for “government contributions to sustainable development goals (SDGs) for the construction and rehabilitation of schools, clinic buildings, etc.

However, in Kogi State, 61% of households lack access to clean drinking water, and 87% of households lack access to sanitary facilities despite the display of extravagant spending on things of less priority by leaders who are meant to put the people’s interest first.
