Murtala Ajaka, the gubernatorial candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi has made a public plea to law enforcement agencies, requesting the apprehension of individuals protesting under his banner without authorisation.
Ajaka, who is currently challenging the results of the November 11 governorship election in court, has declared that such protests are a deliberate attempt to sow discord.
A statement was issued following a video released on Friday evening, in which Ajaka accused the orchestrators of the planned demonstrations in Lokoja and Abuja of being operatives of the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC).
He emphasised that these actions are not sanctioned by him and are, in fact, tactics employed by supporters of Governor Yahaya Bello to destabilise the state and potentially cause unrest in the nation’s capital.
Ajaka has unequivocally dissociated himself from the alleged protests, stating, “It has come to my attention that there is an impending protest by individuals purporting to be affiliated with the SDP or acting upon my directives. I categorically did not authorize any such protest in Lokoja or Abuja for this Saturday. I urge the arrest of anyone found protesting in my name as they are likely agents of Governor Yahaya Bello, intent on creating chaos.”

He further implored security forces to remain vigilant and to detain any protester donning an SDP vest this Saturday, labeling them as agents provocateurs of Governor Bello.
The call for proactive measures by security agencies underscores the tense political climate in Kogi following the contentious election results.
