The Federal Government has approved Kogi State’s plan to construct an international airport in Zariagi, with the project aimed at boosting regional economic growth and reducing traffic on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
The announcement, confirmed by Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi State’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, follows a letter from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development dated October 9, 2024.
According to Fanwo, the new Zariagi International Airport is set to serve ten states, providing essential cargo handling facilities and supporting commercial activities in line with the government’s goals for economic diversification.
Expressing gratitude for the Federal Government’s support, Fanwo remarked, “We thank Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Aviation Minister for this historic approval that will help to further develop Kogi State.”
He also noted that the state will adhere to strict safety and regulatory standards throughout the construction phase.
