‘Abure Escaped Assassination Attempt,’ Labour Party Raises Alarm After Fire Razes Residence of Party Chair

The Labour Party (LP) has sounded the alarm over what it alleges to be a threat to the life of its national chairman, Julius Abure, following a harrowing incident at his residence.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh, it was disclosed that Abure narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during an arson attack on his Abuja home.

The ordeal unfolded in the early hours of the morning when a mysterious fire engulfed Abure’s residence, leaving him and his family in grave danger.

According to him, “His (Abure’s) residence was also gutted by a mysterious fire which started a few minutes after 1 am while Abure and his family members were asleep.

“According to a family member who narrated the incident, the family was woken up by neighbours and security men living in the compound who raised the alarm.

“The entire family was trapped as the inferno reached the staircase, making it impossible for Abure and the family to escape.

“However, it took divine intervention for the national chairman and his family to escape after neighbours and security men gallantly pulled down one of the windows upstairs, making way for the family to escape.

“Men of the Fire Service arrived shortly after Abure and his family were evacuated.

“Abure and his family were rushed to a private hospital where they are presently receiving treatment. Their condition is, however, stable,” he added.
