The Edo State chapter of the Labour Party has taken legal action against the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), contesting the results of the recently concluded local government elections.
The declared victory of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in all 18 LGAs prompted the Labour Party, led by governorship aspirant Barr. Olumide Akpata, to file 18 petitions for their respective LGA chairmanship candidates.
Akpata who is a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) expressed confidence in the three-man panel overseeing the proceedings, emphasizing the Labour Party’s commitment to the rule of law.

Despite reservations about the judicial process in Nigeria, Akpata remains optimistic about the pursuit of justice. The case, adjourned to November 22nd, resumed today.
