The Labour Party (LP) has plunged into turmoil, prompting the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership to demand the resignation of the party’s national Chairman, Julius Abure.

Despite the NLC’s call, the Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) proceeded with the national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday, where Abure was reelected.

However, the NLC invalidated the convention’s outcome, including the reelection of Abure and his NWC.

In response, stakeholders announced plans to establish a transition committee to oversee the party’s affairs until new officials are elected within three months.
