Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos State during the 2023 election, has expressed confidence that the party will not only win but take control of Lagos in 2027.
Rhodes-Vivour made this statement while speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, where he attended an extended stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party.
He noted that the party has become stronger and more prepared to take over Lagos, emphasizing that it has been strategizing and building on its successes since its remarkable performance in the 2023 elections, where it made significant gains, especially in Lagos during the presidential vote.
The former candidate also expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, stating that the party’s prospects have become even brighter.
He said, “LP is now well structured, not just to win but to take power in 2027. What we have come to do here in Umuahia is to bring everybody on the same page. We are set for new victories in 2027.
“I believe the Labour Party will win Lagos State more convincingly in 2027. Since after the 2023 elections, work has not stopped; we have not gone quiet. Every day, we are getting stronger and stronger.
“So, we are not just going to win but stand up and take power.”
Rhodes-Vivour also criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its poor governance, stating that its dismal performance has paved the way for the Labour Party to easily win both Lagos and the nation in 2027.
He noted that the severe economic hardship and increasing hunger across the country are clear indicators of the ruling party’s incompetence at the federal level.
