Lafia Residents to Protest Epileptic Power Supply, High Bills in Nasarawa

LAFIA

In Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, inhabitants are voicing their discontent regarding unreliable power provision and exorbitant electricity charges.

Residents are set to peacefully demonstrate at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) office along Makurdi road.

This decision follows an altercation where an AEDC staff member was allegedly attacked while attempting to disconnect power to a community.

According to reports by DAILY POST, the clash occurred on Thursday afternoon between locals and DisCo personnel in a Lafia neighborhood.

The protest organizers urge fellow residents to unite in demanding resolutions to the city’s electricity crisis and equitable billing practices.

“We are fed up. We believe it’s time for change, and we need your voice to make it happen.

“Your presence matters. Together, we can illuminate the path to a brighter future for our town,” the organisers stated in a notice made available to journalists.

The protest, set for Tuesday, February 20th, seeks to highlight the difficulties encountered by residents and to push for better services from the electricity distribution company.
