Lagos Doctor Sentenced To Life Imprisonment for Rape

The Managing Director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Femi Olaleye, was found guilty of raping his wife’s niece and has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Lagos court.

The ruling was handed down on Tuesday by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.

On two counts of defiling a child and sexual assault by penetration, Dr. Olaleye was found guilty.

On November 20, 2022, the Lagos State government filed the lawsuit.

Even after entering a not-guilty plea, Dr. Olaleye was charged with sexually abusing the victim for more than 20 months.

Aderemi, his wife, testified throughout the trial that her husband exposed the minor victim to oral sex and pornography, and Justice Oshodi deemed the evidence against Dr. Olaleye to be convincing.

Judge Oshodi claimed that the statement and undertaking the defendant signed at the Anthony Police Station with his attorney, Olalekan Buruji, and his NBA seal proved that he had sexually assaulted the victim.

The victim’s testimony and the medical expert who examined her were deemed believable by the judge.

The judge also went on to say that Olaleye’s confessional admission and his wife’s exchange of emails and WhatsApp chats constituted sufficient evidence against him.
