The Lagos State Government has initiated the dismantling of more than 100 shanties situated beneath the Adeniji Adele under-bridge area of the state.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources of the state disclosed this development on Monday.
According to Wahab, the joint task force comprising the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) and the Lagos State Environment and Special Offences team has commenced the removal of shanties and makeshift structures beneath the Adeniji Adele bridge following the lapse of the vacation notice served.
He stated, “The joint task force of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) and State Environment and Special Offences team, commenced the removal of shanties and makeshift structures built under Adeniji Adele bridge after the expiration of the vacation notice. ”

In a similar event, the government uncovered 86 partitioned rooms functioning as makeshift apartments beneath the Dolphin Estate bridge in Ikoyi.
Tokunbo Wahab reiterated on Sunday that the removal of the over 100 shanties beneath the Adeniji Adele bridge would commence on Monday following the expiration of the 48-hour removal notice issued to all occupants.
