Lagos Monarch Dethrones Six Chiefs for Attending Labour Party Campaign

The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has dethroned six of his chiefs for attending the flag-off of the Labour Party’s campaign in Apapa ahead of the Lagos State local government elections.

The monarch, in a statement released by the palace, explained that the decision to remove the chiefs was taken to preserve order and coherence within the traditional leadership structure of the Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom.

He made the announcement on Monday during a palace meeting, where he also expressed disappointment over the chiefs’ conduct.

According to him, their attendance at the political event violated palace protocols and was done without his knowledge or approval.

He further accused them of impersonating him during the event, describing it as a serious breach of royal decorum.

The affected chiefs are Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere), and Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko).
