The Lagos State Government has sealed several establishments, including churches, nightclubs, and event centers.
The enforcement operation was spearheaded by officials from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and spanned across various areas, including Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi.
LASEPA stated that it was committed to fighting noise pollution and urged all establishments to comply with the recommended sound levels.
The agency said, “Let’s Stand United Against Noise Pollution! To combat noise pollution, LASEPA advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and event centers.”
One of the establishments that was closed by LASEPA was Silk Club, located at 190 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi.
The commissioner of LASEPA, Wahab, announced the closure on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. He wrote, “As I directed, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial conducted a nighttime enforcement operation, leading to the closure and sealing of Silk Club at 190, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi due to noise pollution.”
