The Lagos State Government has demolished the free schools established by the Omega Power Ministry (OPM) in Lagos State.
The schools, which provided free education to orphans and children of widows, were reportedly demolished without any prior notice.
Apostle Gift Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of OPM, disclosed the demolition on his Facebook page, expressing outrage and sadness at the government’s action. He wrote, “Happening Now…. Lagos state government demolishing OPM free schools in LAGOS STATE. A free school for ORPHANS and CHILDREN OF WIDOWS. LET THE TEARS OF THE ORPHANS AND WIDOWS BEGIN TO SPEAK.”
The demolition of the schools has deprived many orphans and children of widows of access to education, prompting widespread concern and criticism.
The decision has been widely condemned as both insensitive and inhumane, particularly given the vulnerability of the affected students.
The Lagos State Government has yet to issue a statement on the matter, raising questions about its commitment to supporting education and addressing the needs of marginalized communities.
The OPM free schools were established to offer education and hope to orphans and children of widows, providing access to quality education otherwise beyond their financial reach.

The demolition has not only destroyed the physical infrastructure but also dashed the dreams and aspirations of the students who depended on these schools.
As the situation develops, there are growing calls for the Lagos State Government to provide alternative educational arrangements for the displaced students and to clarify the reasons behind the demolition of the OPM free schools.
