Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has voiced strong criticism against Nigerian leaders, accusing them of prioritizing politics over solving the country’s problems.
Moghalu emphasized that instead of focusing on addressing critical issues, leaders were more inclined towards political maneuvers, rent-seeking, and appointing individuals based on sycophancy and ethnic considerations, rather than competence.
In a post on his Xmedia handle on Monday, Moghalu highlighted the necessity of knowledge, competence, expertise, and political will in resolving Nigeria’s challenges.
He lamented the prevalent lack of genuine interest among leaders in tackling the nation’s problems, stressing that effective leadership goes beyond mere political considerations.
Moghalu stated, “The tragedy of Nigeria is that many of its leaders are not truly interested in solving the country’s problems.
“They are more focused on politics, rent-seeking, and picking sycophants and ethnic journeymen for jobs they can’t perform. But problems can’t solve themselves.
“It’s knowledge, competence and expertise, plus political will, that solves problems. To bring these factors together to fix Nigeria’s problems requires real #Leadership.
“This is a concept that can incorporate politics, but goes well beyond it. #LeadershipMatters.”
