The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, has suspended a lecturer, Mr. Okoroafor Ifeanyichukwu, for assaulting a male student in a viral video.
In the footage, the lecturer was seen slapping the student and violently kicking his legs as though he were kicking a football.
According to SaharaReporters, the student—whose identity remains unknown—had complained of feeling unwell before the attack.
The incident took place on Thursday while students were queuing to enter a hall for an entrepreneurship training session. The victim was hurrying to join his peers when Mr. Ifeanyichukwu confronted him.
In the video, the lecturer was heard saying, “Why don’t you stay there and tell me since I said nobody should enter?” The students around him were heard pleading, repeatedly saying, “Sorry sir, sorry sir, sorry sir.”
Reacting to the incident, the management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede suspended Mr. Ifeanyichukwu from his role as a facilitator in the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (TEDC).

In an official statement signed by Dr. Okoye P.C., Director of TEDC, the institution stated:
“You are hereby suspended from duty as a facilitator in the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre pending the outcome of the investigation into the incident that occurred yesterday, March 13, 2025, at the site of your entrepreneurship training.”
In a similar case, Parallel facts previously reported that Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.
The altercation began when the lecturer, identified as Michael, interrupted the student’s video recording because she was blocking the entrance to a lecture hall. This led to a heated argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.
In a viral video, the student was seen dancing at the entrance of a campus building while being filmed. As Michael tried to pass, he tapped her on the shoulder to signal her to move aside.
The student turned with a frown and remarked, “Imagine! Why would he touch me like that?” However, the situation worsened when Michael overheard her making derogatory comments and returned to confront her.
Upon his return, he saw that she was still recording. Not wanting to be filmed, he reached for her phone, but she aggressively grabbed his clothes. During the struggle, she bit him multiple times and tore his outfit.
