A social commentator, Mallam Jabir, has called for foreign intervention to help tackle the escalating terrorism crisis in Nigeria, saying the Federal Government has failed to protect citizens in affected communities.
In a post on his X handle, Jabir said he would support United States involvement if it would help eliminate the armed groups responsible for killings, displacement and destruction across parts of the North.
He expressed frustration over what he described as 15 years of unchecked violence, accusing political leaders of ignoring the suffering of citizens.
“If the Government won’t or can’t fight the bandits, let America do it for us,” he wrote. “If Bello Turji and his gang are smoked out and eliminated, I’ll be very happy and will also celebrate.

“For 15 years, we’ve watched helplessly as our people are slaughtered like chickens everyday while politicians enrich themselves, trade blame, and pretend all is well,” he said.
Jabir said communities have watched “helplessly” as residents are killed, villages deserted, farmers forced off their land and children left orphaned, while politicians “enrich themselves” and issue “empty speeches.”
He argued that national pride should not stand in the way of saving lives. “If foreign intelligence, airstrikes, or diplomatic pressure can finally end this madness and bring peace to our communities, then let it happen even if it bruises national pride. Lives matter more than politics, and Nigeria has bled enough. All we want is peace,” he said.
His remarks triggered a wave of reactions on social media. A user, @AnkaDede, backed Jabir’s comments, accusing the government of hiding behind the idea of national sovereignty while failing to secure lives and territory.
“Nigeria has been overrun by terrorists and bandits; that’s why Nigerians today live in IDP camps. Who did this to us?” the user asked.
However, another user, @TwuyiAsiwaju, cautioned against the direct presence of foreign military forces in the country.
“I’ll agree with you only if the U.S. is giving military support to Nigerian soldiers, not deploying their own troops here. Look at Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. Are we ready for collateral damage?” the user wrote.
Jabir was reacting to the recent designation of Nigeria as “a Country of Particular Concern” by U.S. President Donald Trump over alleged killings of Christians in the country.
Trump had also said on Saturday that he had directed the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare a possible plan of military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”
