Let’s Dialogue, Shun Hardship Protest, Wike Begs Youths

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged the youth in the nation’s capital to refrain from participating in the planned August #EndBadGovernance protest, which is being organized in response to economic hardships and other issues.

Previously, the former Rivers State governor declared that the FCT would not be a venue for any protests, a statement that drew strong reactions from the youth, who vowed to hold a rally at Eagle Square next month.

However, during a town hall meeting with youth leaders in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT on Monday, Wike seemed to adopt a more conciliatory tone.

He encouraged the youths to express their grievances through dialogue rather than protests.

The meeting was attended by area council chairmen, traditional leaders, religious representatives, and members of women and youth groups.

In his opening remarks, the FCT minister thanked those in attendance for choosing dialogue and reiterated that Bola Tinubu is committed to improving the nation.

Wike also announced that Tinubu had approved the establishment of a youth secretariat within the FCT Administration (FCTA) and the construction of police stations in each area council of the nation’s capital.

He urged youths across all area councils to avoid protests and assured them that improvements were on the way.
