Political Apathy Evident as Low Voter Turnout Hampers Bauchi LG Poll

The local government elections in Bauchi State were marked by low voter turnout and a delayed start, as observed in several polling centers across Bauchi, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Voting did not commence in most locations until about 11:00 am due to the late arrival of election officials and materials.

Polling units at Junior Secondary School Gwallameji, Kofar Sarkin-Gwalameji, Sa’adu Zungur Comprehensive Secondary School, and GSS Baba-Sidi, Bauchi ,experienced voter apathy, with few residents turning out to cast their votes.

Despite the delays, those who did show up queued peacefully as the election officials facilitated the voting process.

Security personnel were adequately deployed across the polling centers to ensure a smooth election. However, many residents chose to go about their normal activities rather than participate in the voting exercise.

A team of election monitors expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election in the areas they visited.
