Maine Alleged Shooter, Robert Card Found Dead After Two Day Manhunt

Robert Card, 40, the alleged shooter involved in the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, which left 18 people dead and 13 injured, was found dead on Friday.

The mass shooting occurred on Wednesday night at a restaurant and bowling alley.

Card had been designated as “armed and dangerous” by police.

He was a firearms instructor and army reservist with a history of mental illness.

Following the incident on Wednesday, Card was the target of a manhunt that involved hundreds of law enforcement officers.

AP reports that the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Card’s death in a Facebook post that said the suspect in the shootings “has been located and is deceased.”

Card was the target of several murder counts on which the authorities had issued arrest warrants.

The history of Card’s mental health was also a topic of discussion during the manhunt.

When military officials noticed that he was acting strangely in mid-July, they were concerned and had him brought in by police for an assessment.
