The Women Leader of Waru Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp in Abuja, Fatima Mohammed has revealed that 10 babies have died from complications related to malnutrition since 2013.
She made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
According to her, malnutrition is a major problem affecting many infants and children in the camp.

She attributed the poor health condition of the IDPs to the lack of basic amenities such as medical facilities, potable water and toilet facilities.
She said that many women in the camp suffer from infections, some of which are chronic and affect their fertility.
She appealed to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to intervene and provide urgent assistance to the IDPs.
She said that the IDPs need a healthcare facility, even though they hope to return to their homes soon.
She also expressed gratitude to the former Director-General of the Refugees Commission, Imaan Suleiman, for her support to the camp in the past.
She said that the camp, which has about 3,870 people, has not received any donation from any organisation since then.
She further stated that only 17 people out of the camp population benefited from the empowerment scheme initiated by the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya.
She added that the scheme was mainly on skills acquisition and some of the IDPs were trained in tailoring and given sewing machines. #Malnutrition
