Man Arrested for Stabbing Court Clerk in Adamawa

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Linus Dimas, who was accused of fatally stabbing a court clerk named Yauba Usman.

According to reports, the court clerk was assigned to deliver him a summon.

Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, revealed this information in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the arrest was made by their officers on Monday.

The police spokesperson, Mr Usman, said an employee at the Nasarawa Jereng Area Court, was killed by Dimas on December 18, 2023, after the latter refused to accept the court summons served to him.

The statement further disclosed that the crime was committed by Dimas, a 43-year-old inhabitant of Kugama Wuro Jibir in the Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state.

The statement quoted, “The suspect, on December 18, 2023, rejected a court summons served on him by Yauba Usman, a staff member of Nasarawa Jereng Area Court and stabbed him severally with a knife, thereby inflicting deep cuts on him.”

The police spokesperson stated that the court clerk was immediately taken to the hospital following the incident, where he was declared dead.

The statement also included the directive from the police commissioner for a thorough investigation of the case.
