At least five people have been killed, including a toddler, and scores injured, after a car plowed into a bustling Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday.
Over 200 people were injured, including 15 people with serious injuries, according to authorities.
The suspected driver, who is believed to have acted alone, has been arrested. He is a 50-year-old man and a doctor from Saudi Arabia who works in Saxony-Anhalt, officials said. ‘
Local broadcaster MDR reports he was driving a rented car.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz travelled to Magdeburg on Saturday to visit the site of the market attack, with other key politicians. During a briefing, Scholz told the people of Germany that “we need to stick together as a country and not let hatred divide us.”
