Man Jailed Nine Months for Crossing Highway, Assaulting Lagos Official

A man known only as Paul has been sentenced to nine months in prison by a court in Oshodi.

He was charged with failure to use a pedestrian bridge and for assaulting personnel of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps.

This information was revealed by the state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

Wahab wrote, “Paul was apprehended on April 16 for not using the pedestrian bridge at Agbado Oke Odo, and in the process, he assaulted and wounded the enforcement personnel of LAGESCOfficial (KAI).

“The mobile court sitting at Oshodi yesterday sentenced him to nine months imprisonment.”

The ministry had recently warned residents against shunning pedestrian bridges, as it described the crossing of major highways in the state by pedestrians as an offence.
