The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osayintolu, revealed that there is a widespread absence of essential healthcare services for numerous adolescents and young individuals in Nigeria.

The revelation unfolded during her keynote address at the 23rd Biennial Conference of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos Branch.

Addressing the conference theme, “Investing in Adolescent and Young People’s Health, Education, and Well-Being,” Oke-Osayintolu underscored the vulnerability of adolescents in Nigeria.

She pointed out that this demographic faces a myriad of challenges, including poverty, discrimination, violence, abuse, and exploitation, all of which significantly impact their emotional and physical health.
