Market Women Protest Against Hoodlums’ Harassment in Lagos

Market women at Iyana Ipaja market in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have appealed to Babajide Sanwo-Olu for help against illegal extortion by hoodlums.

Protesting on the streets, the women accused the hoodlums of working for one Ishola Ejigbadero, who claims ownership of the market land. They say these thugs have been disturbing their peace and demanding hefty fines.

The traders claim the extortion has made life unbearable and that their efforts to stop the hoodlums have failed. They carried placards, calling on the government and council Chair, Jelili Sulaimon, to intervene.
