Mason Greenwood Scores His First Goal For Getafe

Mason Greenwood scored his first goal for Getafe against Celta Vigo. Greenwood scored with his right foot at the far post in his sixth game for the team on Sunday night, giving Getafe a 2-1 advantage. They were eventually forced to split the points, though.

At Abanca Balaidos, the home of Celta Vigo, Borja Mayoral also scored for Getafe, while Jonathan Bamba and Jorgen Strand Larsen scored for the opposition. Getafe, who are currently 11th in the rankings after their fourth La Liga draw this year, saw Greenwood play for 60 minutes.

Greenwood, 22, will not play for United again after his parent club decided it would be best for the attacker to continue his career elsewhere. Greenwood joined the Spanish team on loan this summer. The Premier League powerhouses initially suspended him in January 2022.

Allegations of attempted rape, violence, and coercive control had been made against the athlete. While Greenwood has consistently rejected the accusations, the Crown Prosecution Service said in February of this year that all charges against the football player had been dismissed.

After conducting an internal inquiry, United came to the conclusion that it would be best for Greenwood to pursue his career elsewhere. On the deadline day, he then signed with Getafe.

Greenwood made his United debut as a teenager and went on to score 35 goals and contribute 12 assists. He has made five appearances, one goal, and one assist in 230 minutes of play so far for Getafe.
