Matawalle Shares N500m Among Zamfara APC Supporters

The Minister of State for Defence, Hon. Bello Mattawalle, has donated N500 million to APC supporters in Zamfara State to support them during the Ramadan fast.

Speaking to journalists in Gusau on Thursday, the minister’s aide, Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidan-Goga, explained that Mattawalle opted for a cash donation instead of foodstuffs since politicians in the state had already distributed grains to their supporters.

Gidan-Goga emphasized that financial support would allow APC supporters to purchase other essential items needed for fast Ramadan.

He said, “This time around, instead of giving assorted grains to the people, we decided to give out cash because other politicians have distributed the foodstuffs.

“The former Governor of the state Senator Abdul Aziz Yari has donated 496 trucks of assorted grains, and the minister decided to give out money.

“We have selected 200 people from each of the 14 local government areas of the state where each person will be given one hundred thousand Naira, totalling N280 million.

“Similarly, 24 APC stakeholders from the five local government areas of the Zamfara West Senatorial Zone were given N250,000 each totalling N30 million.

“The minister has also given out N250,000 to each of the 90 APC stakeholders from the nine local government areas of Zamfara Central and Zamfara North Senatorial Zones totalling the sum of N22,500.00.

“There are other categories of people who benefitted from the minister’s Ramadan welfare packages apart from those that were mentioned.

“As I am talking to you now, more than 80 per cent of the targeted beneficiaries have so far collected their money.”

He went on to reveal that beneficiaries from Bakura, Gummi, Kaura-Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi, and Talata-Mafara have already received their payments.

Gidan-Goga further emphasized that 100 individuals from each of the five local government areas—Tsafe, Zurmi, Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Anka—have also been paid. He assured that the remaining beneficiaries would receive their payments soon.

Providing additional clarification, the minister’s aide stated that recipients from Birnin Magaji Local Government had not yet collected their welfare funds due to the delayed submission of beneficiary names.

He urged those who have benefited from the minister’s support to continue praying for the peace and progress of the nation.
