Mathematics Teacher Apprehended for Rape in Ogun

A secondary school teacher, Lateef Olaniran, has been apprehended on allegations of sexually assaulting a young lady.

The accused, a native of Ipokia Local Government Area in Ogun State and mathematics teacher at Ebenezer Grammar School in Iberekodo, Abeokuta, is an official of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission identified by the number OGNO.30650.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Olaleye, brought the matter to light with a statement released on Wednesday.

According to Olaleye, the arrest of Olaniran occurred last Saturday, when a member of her team received a distressing call from an unidentified young lady who reported being a victim of sexual assault by a man.

In response, the Ministry of Women Affairs promptly activated its investigative procedures and located the victim.

Subsequently, the victim was taken to a laboratory for various medical tests to corroborate the allegations before being accompanied to the police station to formally file a report.

“We thereafter went with the police to the accused home, but after several knocks, he refused to open the gate. We were able to locate the brother to the house owner, who assisted us in gaining access to the compound,” she explained.
