Passengers found themselves stranded at Maiduguri International Airport, Borno State, as a Max Air aircraft faced repeated technical faults during the Abuja-Maiduguri route.
The situation has raised alarm among passengers, questioning the airworthiness of the aircraft and urging aviation authorities to intervene promptly.
According to a distressed passenger, “This is an accident of monumental national catastrophe waiting to happen. The earlier Max Air is checkmated from flying in the Nigerian airspace, the better it is to save innocent lives that may soon perish.”
The aircraft in question reportedly exhibited faults on Friday but still operated the Abuja flight around 2 pm. However, the return flight to Abuja today has been grounded due to yet another technical fault, leaving passengers in a state of uncertainty.

A stranded passenger revealed, “We are currently stranded the same way Abuja to Lagos passengers were left stranded for 6 hours on Friday.”
Efforts to obtain comments from Max Air by SaharaReporters proved futile at the time of filing this report.
The stranded passengers have lodged an official complaint with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), urging swift action to address these safety lapses.
